Libya Funds Black Separatism under Farrakhan

Louis Farrakhan, the controversial leader of the militant black Muslim sect, Nation of Islam (NOI), is reported to have accepted a donation of one billion dollars from Libya's Col. Muammar Kadahfy. The two met in Tripoli in January. According to Jana, the official Libyan news agency, they agreed to mobilize the oppressed minorities in the US, that is, blacks, Arabs, Muslims and Americans Indians, to play a strong role -- not only in the American elections, but also in US foreign policy. The billion dollar gift is apparently to fund these activities.

Col. Kadahfy called for the creation in America of a separate black state with its own army manned by black soldiers from the US armed forces. This echoes the NOI's own reported calls for white Americans to hand over eight or ten states to black Americans for their exclusive use, to make amends for slavery.

The relationship between Col. Kadahfy and Mr. Farrakhan goes back to 1985 when Kadahfy lent the NOI five million dollars for business projects. He also offered arms to the NOI so they could overthrow their oppressors in an armed struggle, but this offer was rejected by Farrakhan.

Farrakhan -- who is famed for his bigotry, racism and anti-Semitism -- has become a dominant leader of African-Americans since the success of his Million Man March last October. Probably the largest political demonstration in American history, this march was attended by almost one in ten adult black males in the US.
